Transformed products
Beyond fuel: nitrogen fertilisers, methanol, LPG, bitumen, sulphur, polymers — the Chadian molecule turned into higher-value products, at home.
Value ladder · interactive
One feedstock, one family of products.
Petrochemistry extends every molecule beyond fuel. Pick an input feedstock and see the products the EnerTchad target would aim to draw from it.
Rather than burning the gas that comes with production, the target is to capture it and convert it into high-value molecules.
The heavy fractions that fuel leaves behind become products for infrastructure and industry.
The sulphur removed to clean the fuels in turn feeds agriculture and basic chemistry.

Beyond fuel, transforming the molecule.
Upgrading Chadian crude and associated gas into higher-value products, to cut imports and create local value.

Capturing at home a value that leaks away today.
Chad exports its crude and imports almost everything derived from it — fertilisers, LPG, solvents, plastics. Every tonne transformed locally is hard currency that stays, a job created and one dependency less. Petrochemicals are not a luxury: they are the logical extension of a producing country, and the way for gas that is flared today to become agricultural and industrial wealth.
Nitrogen fertilisers
From gas — notably the ~7 bn m³ of Sédigui — ammonia, urea and NPK open, alongside LPG, the most mature and most useful petrochemical chain for Chad: gas-to-fertiliser is proven technology (see regional models), and national agricultural demand is immediate. Our petrochemical flagship.
Methanol & derivatives
From natural gas: methanol and derivatives (formaldehyde, MTBE, solvents) — chemical feedstocks for regional industry, substituting imports.
Valuing the gas
Associated gas, rather than being flared, is used for energy (on-site gas-to-power) and directed towards petrochemical outlets (LPG, methanol, chemical feedstocks).
Cooking gas (LPG)
Bottling and distribution of butane and propane for household cooking — a massive social market that eases the pressure on wood fuel and deforestation.
Bitumens & lubricants
Doba crude, heavy and acidic (TAN 4.7), is a natural feedstock for bitumen: what light petrochemistry dreads becomes an advantage here. Road and polymer-modified bitumens (PMB) for infrastructure programmes, plus industrial lubricants — substituting imports.
Granulated sulphur
Doba crude is acidic in TAN terms but low in sulphur (≈ 0.16 wt%): the sulphur recovered from fuel desulphurisation and gas treatment remains a modest co-product — put to use locally as a feedstock for chemistry and fertilisers.
Paraffins, waxes & solvents
Waxes and paraffins (candles, packaging, cosmetics) and solvents/white spirit (paints, industrial cleaning) — cuts upgraded for multiple downstream chains.
Polymers · PP, PE, PVC
Polypropylene (≈25,000 t/yr) downstream of an olefins unit — the most capital-intensive step, conditional on a propylene source (cracking / FCC or regional supply). The first plastics link, extensible to PE and PVC. Long horizon, after the gas ramps up.
Petrochemicals · Product sheets
From gas and crude, high-value products.
Beyond fuel, EnerTchad aims to turn Sédigui gas and the fractions of Chadian crude into high-value products — fertilisers, basic chemistry, derivatives. Each sheet details the feedstock, the uses and the targeted outlet. (ambition · company in formation)

- Feedstock: Sédigui natural gas (target).
- Process: ammonia → urea and NPK blends.
- Outlet: Chadian agriculture, import substitution.
Challenge — Chad imports its fertilisers in hard currency, holding back agriculture and rural purchasing power.
Integrated answer — Produce ammonia → urea/NPK from Sédigui gas, at home.
Targeted gainHard currency saved · farm yields supported
A key chemical intermediate, drawn from Chadian gas.

- Feedstock: syngas (target).
- Uses: solvent, fuel, chemical base.
- Horizon: modular unit under study.
Challenge — Every basic chemical input is imported, expensive and prone to shortages.
Integrated answer — A modular methanol unit turning local gas into a chemical building block.
Targeted gainA chemical chain started at home · reduced dependency
Clean cooking gas, extracted and bottled at home.

- Source: separation at the refinery and gas plant.
- Outlet: household cooking, an alternative to wood.
- Packaging: bottles and an exchange network (target).
Challenge — Cooking on wood damages health and speeds up deforestation.
Integrated answer — Extract and bottle LPG at home, with a bottle-exchange network.

- Origin: fuel desulphurisation and gas treatment.
- Uses: sulphuric acid, fertilisers, industry.
- Logic: turning a constraint into a resource.
Challenge — The sulphur removed from fuels is a refining constraint and a waste stream.
Integrated answer — Capture it and put it to use (sulphuric acid, fertilisers, industry).
Targeted gainA constraint turned into revenue · a feedstock for fertilisers
The road that opens up the country, produced locally.
Learn more
- Origin: heavy refining fractions (target).
- Outlet: roads, tracks, waterproofing.
- Impact: fewer imports for infrastructure.
Challenge — Imported bitumen makes every kilometre of road dearer and slows the opening-up of the country.
Integrated answer — Produce bitumen from the heavy fractions of local refining.
Targeted gainInfrastructure costs reduced · opening-up accelerated
Technical plastics and derivatives — the chain’s long-term downstream.
