Train before you drill: the academy that comes before the barrel.

Most oil companies build their wells first, then look for people to run them. EnerTchad reverses the order: build Chad’s next generation of crude professionals — geoscience, drilling, HSE, data — before the first barrel.

Chad is full of talent: engineers, geologists, technicians, managers, trained at home and around the world. What was missing was not competence — it was a banner. EnerTchad brings them together for the first time around a single project: developing the Chadian oil sector from source rock to the pump, no longer as contractors for foreign operators, but as architects of their own industry.

An academy, not a recruitment office

The instrument is called Tchaditude™: EnerTchad’s petroleum academy, with a campus planned in N’Djamena (Chagoua), certifying tracks aligned with OHADA standards and international petroleum frameworks — delivered on industrial sites, through work-study programmes and senior mentoring, not just in classrooms. The founding principle fits in four words, displayed on our careers portal itself: train before you drill.

Four tracks that spell out the strategy

The first planned tracks are not random — each matches a critical link in the model: pipeline SCADA operator (real-time supervision and transport integrity), well-activation technician (ESP pumping, gas-lift — the heart of mature-field EOR), OT cybersecurity · IEC 62443 (protecting the digital field), and industrial HSE (ISO 45001, API RP 75 — including stop-work authority). Reading this catalogue is reading the company’s roadmap.

Key point. Tchaditude™: a campus planned in N’Djamena (Chagoua), certifying tracks on industrial sites (SCADA, well activation, OT cybersecurity, HSE), work-study + senior mentoring — a shared talent pool serving the whole industry, with 80% local content targeted.

A shared pool, not a captive one

Tchaditude does not train for EnerTchad alone. It is designed as a hub for pooling petroleum skills: certified talent made available to operators, service companies and institutions — competence circulating across the whole industry, from geoscience to distribution. And beyond borders: mobility, twinning and cross-training between African basins — CEMAC, Gulf of Guinea, East Africa — because sector development cannot be imported: it is built by African talent exchanging experience.

Local content, measured and accountable

Behind the academy, a number: 80% local content targeted. Not a slogan — a dated commitment, mapped trade by trade: geoscience and reservoir, drilling and well services, production, transport, refining, distribution, HSE-Q, data and support functions. Every oil operation in the country has its trades; EnerTchad maps them and mobilises them under a Chadian banner.

You can import equipment. You cannot import an industry: it is trained.

The pole that makes the others possible

Without trained operators, the mini-refinery stays a brochure, the pipeline a risk, and the "100% local crew" a phrase. That is why Tchaditude is a fully-fledged integrated capability of the company, serving Exploration & Production and Refining & Distribution alike: human capital treated as a strategic asset, the first one to build, because it takes the longest.

As with everything we publish: EnerTchad is a company in formation; the academy, campus and tracks described are dated targets — recruitment will open in step with our milestones. The detail lives on the Human capital and Careers pages. But the conviction is already at work: Chad’s oil will be developed by its own children.

EnerTchad S.A. — a company in formation under OHADA law. This article is educational; the academy and tracks described are dated targets, not programmes in operation. ← Back to the Notebooks · Lire en français
