Frequently asked questions

Understanding everything about EnerTchad: the company, its capital, subscription, its stance and its activities. An integrated oil company with Chadian capital, in formation. See also the oil glossary →

The company

01 What is EnerTchad S.A.?

EnerTchad S.A. is a public limited company under Chadian (OHADA) law, with Chadian capital, whose ambition is to build Chad’s integrated oil chain — “from source rock to the pump” — organised around four industrial segments with four built-in capabilities. Its motto: Unity · Innovation · Sustainability.

02 Does EnerTchad already produce oil?

No. EnerTchad is a company in formation: it holds no operating assets to date. The projects, flows, stakes and indicators presented are dated ambitions and targets, never achieved results.

03 Where is the company based?

The head office is in N’Djamena, Republic of Chad. Registration (RCCM/NIF) is in progress.

04 Why do we say “a company in formation”?

EnerTchad is finalising its legal and financial structuring (registration, governance, first capital raise). Everything this site presents is a matter of dated objectives and targets: we declare no operating asset and no production before they actually exist.

Capital & subscription

05 What is EnerTchad’s capital?

EnerTchad starts with a founding capital of 100 M FCFA. The targeted trajectory: a raise of about 1 bn FCFA in the short term, then 10 bn FCFA within five years — through successive raises, each floor of the model funding the next. (targets · company in formation)

06 Who can subscribe to the capital?

Subscription is designed to be open and inclusive: individuals (citizens and diaspora), companies, institutions and professional investors, as well as collectives (associations, NGOs, cooperatives). A share is reserved for vulnerable groups (women, youth, low-income households, people with disabilities). “Energy is a right, not a privilege.”

07 How do I express my interest as an investor?

Write to us at invest@enertchad.com or via the form on the page Contact. The subscription calendar and terms will be specified by Management.

08 What will the funds raised be used for?

The raise aims to fund the chain’s first bricks — studies and project de-risking, enhanced recovery from local inputs, the first modular units and logistics — in a sequence where each step funds the next. The detailed allocation appears in the memorandum.

09 What safeguards for investors?

OHADA public limited company governance (board and committees), targeted transparency (EITI standards, ISO norms and reporting), and structuring with our investment partner. The precise subscription terms are described in the investor space and the memorandum.

Activities & poles

10 How is the company organised into poles?

Three form the oil chain — Exploration & Production (including OFS), Transport & Storage, Refining & Distribution — the Petrochemicals pole (chemistry & transformation) extending Refining & Distribution — and irrigated by four cross-cutting capacities: GreenTech, TchadiTech, Tchaditude, EnerConseils.

11 What is enhanced oil recovery (EOR) from local inputs?

It is EnerTchad’s signature: recovering more from each reservoir thanks to additives sourced in Chad (natron, gum arabic, cotton, neem/shea, spirulina) substituting imported inputs — sovereignty, circular economy and controlled cost.

12 Does EnerTchad do renewables?

EnerTchad is an integrated oil company; renewables are not a trade but a means (the GreenTech pole) to decarbonise its own operations: site solar, gas valorisation, an end to routine flaring targeted.

13 Why move crude by truck rather than by pipeline?

Many Chadian fields are not — and may never be — connected to a pipeline. The tanker truck (insulated for our paraffinic crude) unlocks those barrels from day one, towards our mini-refineries and the export corridor: the barrel rolls before the pipe exists, capex deferred, value immediate.

14 What is a modular mini-refinery?

A small, prefabricated, transportable refining unit installable near fields or consumption basins. Designed in Chad for our realities, it brings the barrel’s transformation closer to the citizen and cuts import dependence — a technology target of the TchadiTech pole.

Tchaditude & impact

15 What is Tchaditude?

The pole that pools oil talent: training Chad’s next generation (“train before extracting”), putting a shared talent pool at the whole sector’s service and developing intra-African exchanges of experience (South-South cooperation). Target: 80% local content.

16 What is EnerTchad’s ESG approach?

An ESG anchored in Chad’s realities: strict water management (Lake Chad, Sahel), youth employment and local content, transparency (EITI targeted, OHADA/IFRS, ISO 37001 anti-corruption targeted). Rent that stays and is reinvested in the country.

17 How does EnerTchad maximise local content?

“Train before extracting”: the Tchaditude pole builds Chadian skills, and our tenders favour local suppliers and subcontractors. The goal is for the oil rent to irrigate Chad — jobs, know-how and value retained in the country.

Practical

18 How do I contact you?

By e-mail at contact@enertchad.com, by phone on +235 99 29 86 96, or via the form on the page Contact. Social: @enertchad.

19 How do I become a supplier or partner?

Via the Customers area (Suppliers & subcontractors section) and the Contact page. We seek technical, financial and academic partners aligned with a local-content and sustainability approach.

20 Do you offer jobs or internships?

Hiring will open at the pace of the project’s steps. The Careers portal already lets you discover the job families and submit a spontaneous application to join the talent pool.

21 Where do I find your official documents?

Everything is gathered on the page Publications & documents: the investor factsheet (PDF), official logo, press sheet, media kit, brochure, charter and educational resources. Every document is dated and replaced as soon as a newer version appears; the annual report will be published there at the end of the first financial year.

22 What are your ethics and compliance rules?

They are public: the page Ethics & compliance details our code of conduct, zero tolerance on corruption, our expectations of suppliers and the reporting channel. These commitments apply today, even before the first contracts.

23 How do I recognise a fraudulent solicitation?

A simple rule: no subscription is open to date. Anyone offering you to invest in EnerTchad against immediate payment is usurping our name. Our only official channels are this site and addresses at @enertchad.com; theanti-fraud notice is authoritative. When in doubt, write to us before any payment.

24 What makes up the price of a litre at the pump?

Four layers: the crude (set by the world market), the refining margin, logistics — the heaviest item in a landlocked country — and taxation. Our Notebooks article breaks it down step by step, and explains what the integrated chain changes for each layer.

25 Where can I learn oil vocabulary and basics?

Two free resources: the oil glossary — 80 terms explained simply, with search and filters — and the Notebooks, 32 educational articles telling the story of Chadian oil from the reservoir to the pump. Both also exist in French.

26 How does your hiring process work?

In five steps, described on the page Careers: a light application, shortlisting, at most two interviews, a real-case exercise, then a written offer and an onboarding journey. Every application gets an acknowledgement and a first answer within two weeks — including when it is a no.

27 You speak of a “national champion” and a “unicorn” — is that realistic?

These are owned objectives, not promises. “First of its kind” has a precise meaning: no privately-held, Chadian-owned, integrated company across the whole chain existed before EnerTchad. The unicorn (a valuation above one billion dollars) is a decade-scale horizon, set after the published 2030 milestone; its path is arithmetic — five margins per barrel, a network, services, data. Our figures are public and publicly corrected when they move: see the 2030 Targets dashboard and the editorial “First of its kind”. EnerTchad remains a company in formation: no asset is in operation to date.

28 Why does EnerTchad operate only in Chad?

It is a choice, not a constraint. A single-country scope makes it possible to devote all of the engineering to one context: the geology of the Doba and Bongor basins, heavy crudes and their discount, the export corridor to Kribi, the distances, the climate, the skills available on the ground. Where a multi-country operator adapts recipes designed elsewhere, EnerTchad aims for solutions drawn for this ground.

That choice has two practical consequences. First, getting more from existing resources — enhanced recovery on mature fields, valuing gas flared today, produced water treated and reinjected, refining capacity sized for local demand — rather than chasing new discoveries. Second, access to the best production technologies, chosen because they suit Chad and not because they suit everywhere: the selection criterion is fit to context, not the supplier’s reputation.

The full reasoning is set out in “Single-country, by design”. EnerTchad remains a company in formation: these are objectives and design choices, not activities under way.
